traditionally relied on three types of analyses:
- Query and Reporting: where a user asks a question, e.g. "what
were the sales for a specific product."
- OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing): which amounts to
the processing of queries along multiple dimensions such as state,
month, etc. For instance: "categorize sales by month by brand,
by store-chain."
- Data Mining: which provides influence factors,
relationships, and patterns to determine as an example "what impacts sales in London for
a given product."
